A Message From Your School Librarian

Dear Parents,
Assalamu Alaikum
I am thrilled to serve your child as his or her librarian! I look forward to helping him or her become a critical thinker, enthusiastic reader, skillful researcher, ethical user of information, and a lifelong learner!
JK and SK students will visit the library on a weekly basis for storytime, songs, and book exchange, inshaAllah. Students in grades 1 to 6 may visit on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays for book exchange, as well as for whole class projects. Students in grades 1 to 6 will also attend weekly library classes on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays. During part of their library visits I’ll teach them how to find and use resources, use the research process, appreciate literature, and more.
Please encourage your child to enjoy and take care of our library materials and return them for more. Also, please enjoy the library books WITH your child!
For more information, please do not hesitate to either call me at (613) 226-1396, or email me at nbrethour@abraarschool.com. In addition, visit our school library website atwww.abraarlibrary.com.
Happy Reading!

Alsalamo Alikom Dear Parents

Today I started the Math curriculum with Grade 6 A & B. We started chapter 1 which is about Patterns. In this chapter students will be able to learn about:

  • Number Patterns
  • Pattern Rules
  • Variables and Equations.
Throughout this chapter the students will be asked to use their understanding of the relationship between numbers to solve problems. This chapter is considered as your child's introduction to algebra.

The homework for today is page 1 in the practice workbook.

You can visit www.mathK8.nelson.com for more suggestions to help your child learn mathematics.

Jazakom Allah Khairan
