Used Book Sale May 6, 2014

Assalamu alaikum Dear Parents,

The Grade 6 students will be holding a used book sale on Tuesday, May 6 to raise money for their graduation, insha Allah.  Please remind friends and family members to bring some money to purchase the books and support the Grade 6 efforts!

French Cafe coming soon!

Assalam alaikoum wa rahmato Allah,

Grades 6A and 6B invite you to our French Café (called Café de France) on Wednesday May 7 th, 2014 Insha’a Allah.

We will be serving light snacks and drinks that we find, usually, in a French café like: sandwiches, café (coffee), crêpes (French pancakes), gateau (cake) and biscuits (cookies).

Students from grade 6A and 6B will be waiters and servers.

This year students from JK to G5 will perform songs, games, activities and plays in French throughout the day.

Proceeds from the sale will be donated back to the school. Help us make this event a success.

Abraar Elementary School Speech Competition

The annual Speech Competition will be held in the school gym on Thursday, April 24.
We invite all parents and community members to come out and enjoy some enjoyable
and insightful speeches.  Contestants from Grades 4-6 will compete for a winner at each
grade level.  The event will begin at 10:20am, insha Allah.  Looking forward to seeing you
there to support our students' creative efforts!

Toy Sale Donations Needed for SK Graduation

Assalam Alaikum Dear Parents,

Senior Kindergarten classes (SK1 and SK2) will be holding a toy sale to raise funds for the SK Graduation. We are planning a toy sale on Wednesday, May 21, 2014.

We ask for your cooperation in this fundraising event by donating toys in good condition that can be sold. If you are willing to contribute to this toy sale please send the toys to the SK1 and SK2 Classes.

The Toy Sale will take place all day Wednesday, May 21, 2014 in the school gym.

If you are able to volunteer on this day please let us know, it would be greatly appreciated!

Book Fair April 9&11!

Dear Parents,

Assalamu Alaikum

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming this Wednesday and Friday! What better way to promote reading to our students than by supporting this important literary event.

We invite your entire family to participate by purchasing the latest and greatest in children’s books. Did you know that for every $10 you spend at the Fair up to $6 comes directly back to our school? Your support of this vital literary event is key in helping us obtain new books and resources for our library and classrooms.

You’ll find hundreds of quality books at our book fair with a wide assortment for all reading levels. On Monday, April 7, 2014, your child will be bringing home the book fair flyer that provides a preview to only a FEW  of the many books available for purchase at our fair.

The flyer also contains a special Family Event Draw ballot that parents can deposit during our book fair. You could win $50 in books – $25 for your family PLUS $25 for your child’s classroom!

Don’t forget to mark the book fair dates on your calendar! We look forward to seeing you during our Scholastic Book Fair. Thank you, in advance, for supporting this great literary fundraiser. Mostly, thank you for believing in books and the importance reading has on your child’s future.

Media Literacy Unit Test on April 9
